Jamie Moyle vs. Emily Whitmire, strawweight bout | This Saturday, UFC 226 Early Prelims | 7pm ET, LIVE on UFC FIGHT PASS

This Saturday’s UFC 226 event features an exciting strawweight fight on the early preliminary card when Jamie Moyle takes on Emily Whitmire.

Emily Whitmire believes fans will see her true potential at strawweight.

Moyle (4-2) is 1-1 with the UFC since making her promotional debut, she earned an impressive decision victory over Kailin Curran but then suffered a decision loss to Brazil’s Viviane Pereira. The 29-year-old previously competed on 2016’s The Ultimate Fighter 23 and was coached by former UFC strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Whitmire (2-2) moves down from flyweight after an unsuccessful promotional debut last December, finding herself victim of a first-round submission at the hands of Gillian Robertson. The ‘Spitefire’ believes she was undersized at 125-pounds and feels as though strawweight is her true weight-class. She competed on 2017’s The Ultimate Fighter 26 and was coached by UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje.

UFC 226 takes place this Saturday July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The early preliminary card featuring Moyle vs. Whitmire will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass from 7pm EST.

  1. Emily, good luck to her. There are many types in WMMA: the angry lesbian, the olympian, the genetic goddess, the high school wrestler, the hi-IQ medical professional, the firefighter , the policewoman. Emily is the drifter type, kinda like bec rawlngs. From humble origins, she apparently was just wasting her 20s, staying at friends houses, menial jobs, etc.
She lost (on sherdog) 4 of her 5 amateur fights, and 2 of 4 pros, and 1 of 2 TUF fights.
IIRC she claims to be a friend of miesha tate and maybe working that angle got her into the sport. She seems pretty mediocre and is probably in the UFC as a favor.

    1. Hey Joolz! Do you think Moyle bests Whitmire Sat night? To be honest, I’m not too sure what to expect from either one but Emily looks gigantic next to Jamie at the weigh-ins!

      1. well well Whitmire won. Maybe she is coming into her own. Moyle has more fights and shohlud have won by expeirence. Its as if all girls want to be known as world class strikers, so there are many rounds of patty cake and when they do connect most girls don[t have the ass to sit the other one down. Then the smarter girl rememgbers in the 2nd or 3rd round that “oh yeah this is not a half ass boxing match, this is *mixed* martial arts, let me mix it up!” and then takes it to the ground and wins

        1. Ive got to agree with that. I’ll be honest, I thought Moyle was going to use her wrestling (esp. now being at Team Alpha Male) to grind out a decision.

          1. Moyle is an invicta fighter. Small and cute and she has a agreessive style. but she can’t hang with the big girls. Good for Whitmire, she’s cute and i see her getting better.

  2. Emily seems like she should have gotten the boot from tuf house. But maybe she cried and stayed in. Or got in the UFC by them needing a spot filled on a card. You are right she is big next to moyle. Moyle is feisty and has a natural talent for fighting but her peanut size is a liability against longer stronger girls. Both are in the bottom middle of the the pack. For that very reason, this fight will be good. In my perspective, it’s not the absolute skill of the fighters – it’s the relative skill. Both will never crack top ten but their own fight tomorrow might be good in and of itself.
I got… hmm. ..moyle by cage pressing and lay and pray. Whitmire seems to be injury prone so that will limit her physically
