Invicta Fighting Championships has announced that Sarah Kaufman and Katharina Lehner will fight for the vacant bantamweight championship on the May 4 card airing live on UFC Fight Pass.
Lehner (7-0) is a relative newcomer to the American MMA scene, but has fought for a number of European promotions. Her biggest win to date is a TKO victory over Alexa Conners at Invicta FC 25 in August of last year.
By contrast, the Canadian Kaufman (19-4) is a well-known MMA competitor, having made her name as a Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion and as a former UFC fighter. The veteran striker has faced some of the sport’s biggest names, including Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Marloes Coenen, Alexis Davis, and Roxanne Modafferi among others. She began her second tour of Invicta with a decisive decision win over Pannie Kianzad.
Before and after the Kianzad fight, Kaufman predicted that by next year, she would be competing for a UFC Championship. She will take her first step toward that goal against the German-born Lehner.
