The UFC recently announced that they will be introducing a women’s 125-pound flyweight division through The Ultimate Fighter 26. An inaugural champion will also be crowned on the season finale.
Fans have been speculating which women will be a part of the show, one name which certainly comes up a lot is the Invicta FC flyweight champion and number one 125-pound fighter in the world, Brazil’s Jennifer Maia (14-4-1).
WMMA Rankings recently contacted Maia to get her thoughts on the addition of the division. The 28-year-old is beyod excited for the new UFC division, she believes the 125-pound weight-class will produce some of the best fights.
“I am very happy with the opening of the category in the UFC and I know that this category will show great fights. I look forward to an invitation” Maia told WMMA Rankings.
When asked if she intends to apply for The Ultimate Fighter, she said “Yes, I will, I’m looking forward to this opportunity at the UFC“.
Maia is currently on an impressive five-fight win streak in professional MMA competition. She’s defeated some of the best flyweights in the world including Vanessa Porto, Roxanne Modafferi and many more. She also holds a notable victory over UFC strawweight, Jessica Andrade.
If the Brazilian is selected to be part of the reality TV show, she will no doubt be one of the favourites to become the inaugural champion.
