Invicta FC 26 weigh-in results: Four fighters miss weight, fined 25 percent of their fight purses

Invicta FC 26 takes place this Friday December 8 from the Park Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The entire event will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass from 8pm ET.

In the main event, Jennifer Maia (14-4-1) returns from an almost 15-month layoff to defend her flyweight belt against Aga Niedzwiedz (10-0-0). Maia was considered the number-one women’s flyweight fighter in the world before her hiatus from the sport, owning notable victories over Roxanne Modafferi and Vanessa Porto. However, Niedzwiedz, the current number-one, has taken a lot of Maia’s spotlight over the last year and is being slated for superstardom as part of the UFC. The undefeated 22-year-old is looking to prove everyone right by first taking out arguably one of the best flyweight of all time in Maia.

  1. It never strikes me as right having a blanket 25% penalty if you miss weight. There’s no incentive to get as close to your weight limit as possible. Instead, it should be 10% per pound after the first pound allowance. For example, at 125, someone weighing 130 should be far heavier penalized (say 40% of their paycheck) as opposed to someone coming in at 126.2 (say 10% of their paycheck) And it should all go to the opposing fighter. Now sure how Invicta works that angle of it.
