Invicta FC 24 Results: Jinh Yu Frey victorious in atomweight world title eliminator

Saturday night at Invicta FC 24, Jinh Yu Frey defeated Ashley Cummins via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). As a result of the victory, Frey will now challenge for the Invicta FC atomweight world title.

Frey will challenge for the atomweight world title later this year.

Frey improves her record to 6-2-0. She is currently the number three ranked atomweight fighter in the world, according to the Women’s MMA World Rankings. The 32-year-old fights out of Arlington, Texas and trains at Mohler MMA. She successfully rebounds from a round-two TKO loss to Hamasaki back in September of last year, the fight was a controversial one however as many felt Frey was winning the fight before the doctor decided to stop the bout due to a cut. Her most notable victory comes over former Invicta FC atomweight champion, Herica Tiburcio. She owns first round finishes over Cassie Robb, Darla Harris and Meghan Wright.

Cummins, also known as “Smashley”, drops to 5-4-0.  She is currently the number ten ranked atomweight fighter in the world, according to the Women’s MMA World Rankings. The 29-year-old fights out of St. Louis, Missouri and trains at Wolves Den MMA. She made a successful 105-pound debut back in March, dominating a former world title challenger in Amber Brown to a unanimous decision.

Invicta Fighting Championships 24 took place Saturday 15th July from the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. The event was aired live on UFC Fight Pass.

  1. Hope this synches a rematch for the title with Hamasaki which have been made some time ago. In the meantime, Invicta should be working on bringing over Road FC AW champ, Seo Hee Ham, on over as she would make an excellent match-up for either of them.
