Injury forces Holly Holm out of UFC 243 bout vs. Raquel Pennington

First reported by Ariel Hewlani of ESPN, the UFC 243 main card has lost an exciting fight.

An undisclosed injury has forced Holly Holm to withdraw from her Oct. 5 bantamweight bout versus Raquel Pennington in Australia. The match would have served as a rematch from the pairs first meeting in 2015, where Holly Holm emerged victorious by split-decision.

Holm was last seen at UFC 239, falling short against Amanda Nunes in a bid to recapture the bantamweight championship.

Pennington made her way back into the win column by defeating Irene Aldana via split-decision after dropping back-to-back fights versus champion Amanda Nunes and number one contender Germaine de Randamie.

MMA Junkie reported that the promotion will not be booking a short-notice replacement.

We wish Holly Holm a speedy recovery!
