See the source imageBerry will also star in the film, titled Bruised. The story was described as a “mixed martial arts action drama” about a former fighter who attempts to turn her life around by making a return to fighting.

People.com further detailed Berry’s role as “Jackie”: “Berry will play Jackie ‘Justice,’ a disgraced MMA fighter who is confronted by the 6-year-old son she walked out on years before, according to the outlet. Jackie will have to fight one of the sport’s rising stars and face her demons as she strives to become a good mother for her son, Manny.”

The actress, who won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball, will work with the producer of John Wick 3 – Parabellum, which co-stars Berry. The critically acclaimed fight choreographers from that film series will be coordinating the fight scenes in the new film.

What do you think? Will Halle be able to pull off a role as an MMA fighter?

  1. Halle is way too waifish and petite. I’ve seen her up close – from a distance of roughly five feet or less. I could never believe her as an MMA fighter.

    1. interesting your in-person view. I thought she was medium height and medium build, but you say she is petite. And also, is this a safe project for her? She is 52 years old, in sports that’s old by any standard. Training MMA could injure her half century old body. Yeah she looks 35, but that’s on the outside.
