Not only was Amanda Nunes a big winner at UFC 239 on Saturday, but she was also Thursday night’s brightest star at the 2019 World MMA Awards.
Prior to successfully defending the bantamweight championship versus Holly Holm at UFC 239, the “Lioness” took home three awards at the annual World MMA Awards,
Nunes first nabbed the honors of “Upset of the Year” for her first round knockout of Cris Cyborg at UFC 232 to claim the featherweight championship.
The next award she claimed was “Knockout of the Year”, also for her work against Cyborg.
Finally, Nunes beat out Valentina Shevchenko, Tatiana Suarez, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, and Jessica Andrade, to be win the “Female Fighter of the Year” award.
The event aired on on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass on July 4. It will also air on July 12 on the CBS Sports network.
