Holly Holm signs new six-fight contract with UFC

First reported by Ariel Hewlani for ESPN, former bantamweight champion Holly Holm has inked a new six-fight deal with the UFC.

“The Preacher’s Daughter” (12-4) last fought in June, defeating Megan Anderson via unanimous decision.

Longtime Holm manager Lenny Fresquez told ESPN, “I’m very happy with the deal. We worked feverishly with the UFC to get this done.”

“We’re ready to get to work. I’m sure the UFC will have some great plans to announce for Holly in the near future.”

Holm was briefly scheduled to face unbeaten rising bantamweight Aspen Ladd at UFC 235, however, the bout was cancelled by Dana White.

It has been rumored that Holm would meet double champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 237 in Brazil to challenge for the bantamweight strap, however, the card was recently finalized and the date seems unlikely.

Who would you like to see Holm take on next?

  1. It sounds like Holm’s camp doesn’t want Holly facing Amanda in Brazil. Sure don’t know how she earned a title fight against Amanda in the first place. The only BW she’s beaten in the past 3 years is Correia, not what you’d call a top contender. Her camp didn’t want her facing Aspen either, and now they need not worry about her for the time being as she will be facing Sarj.

Personally, I’d like to see her up against Ketlen next. Not sure if Ketlen is fully recovered. If not, let Holly avenge her loss against Germaine.

Six fights I could see for Holly include, and not necessarily in this order: Ketlen, Amanda, Germaine, Aspen, Cris and by the end of her contract, hopefully some new talent will present itself as a challenge – maybe Macy Chiasson.

    1. for whatever it’s worth, JR, whether it’s right or not, I don’t think the UFC is punishing her for losses to folks that are now retired , no longer in the weight class , never were in the weight class, or beat her in a controversial fight outside the weight class.

    2. and as far as the Ladd fight, I think what likely happened is that they offered Holm a fight with Nunes, but the contract dispute/discussions took way longer than Dana ever expected !
