Holly Holm loses appeal, Germaine de Randamie is still champion

Germaine de Randamie defeated Holly Holm via unanimous decision at UFC 208 to become the first ever UFC featherweight champion. There was controversy however, as De Randamie hit Holm after the bell on several occasions during the fight.

Holm’s team argued that these shots may have impacted Holm’s performance for the remainder of the fight, and they feel points should have been deducted.

The NYSAC have denied Holm’s appeal and have confirmed they will NOT modify the scoring or outcome of the fight.

After a review of the video footage of the bout, the New York State Athletic Commission determined that there was no clear error or violation of statute or rule by Referee Todd Anderson,” an NYSAC official told MMAFighting.com. “Therefore, the scoring and outcome of the bout will not be modified.”

How do you feel about this outcome? What’s next for both Holm and De Randamie? Let us know in the comments section below.
