Heather Martin has suffered an injury and will no longer be fighting Maura Tynanes for the inaugural women’s welterweight title at tonight’s Trinity Sport Combat event.
Both Martin and Tynanes have released official statements about the cancellation of the highly anticipated bout.
“I am pretty bummed right now. We’ve had pretty rough luck in Hawaii so far. I took a pretty rough fall after cutting the weight last night, two separate doctors refused to clear me to compete. It’s something going on with the ligaments in my knee. We were rear ended today too. We are okay, I’m just hurting and pouting right now. I’ve been icing it all night and day, it’s swollen, but I have an MRI scheduled when I get back home, going to get some PT in and get back to work and hopefully she and I can make this fight happen when it is healed up“.
“My fight is canceled due to my opponent getting hurt while cutting weight. I was notified at weigh-ins that she pulled out due to this injury. Even though I️ won’t be fighting come out for an action packed night and support other local athletes getting in the Trinity King Cage”.
WMMA Rankings would like to wish Heather Martin a speedy recovery and hope the title fight against Maura Tynanes can be rescheduled later this year.
