Boxing champions turned mixed martial artists Heather Hardy and Ana Julaton are finally set to fight— the rivals will first meet in a flyweight bout at Bellator 194 on Feb. 16, and the pair will later face off in a boxing ring at an unconfirmed date.
Bellator officials broke the news on Thursday during a press conference. The boxing match does not yet have a date or location.
Bellator, Heather Hardy’s team at DiBella Entertainment, and Ana Julaton’s team at Orion Sports Management have formed an agreement to co-promote the matches.
Julaton has been vocal about her desire to face Hardy, calling her out on a number of occasions. Both ladies are highly regarded as some of boxing’s best and a showdown between the two has been long anticpated.
Hardy is coming off of a brutal doctor stoppage TKO loss to Kristina Williams at Bellator 185– her second MMA fight and the sole loss of her combat sports career. Prior to that, she made her Bellator and MMA debut by TKOing Alice Yauger in the third round, announcing her arrival to the flyweight division emphatically.
On the same card as Hardy’s fight vs Williams, Julaton made her Bellator debut. The debut of the Filipino-American fighter was spoiled by Lisa Blaine who picked up a decision win. Julaton previously competed for ONE FC where she amassed a record of 2-2.
