Last Night, at Bellator 180 in New York City, pro-boxer Heather “The Heat” Hardy (20-0 Boxing, 1-0 MMA) made a triumphant and memorable debut in MMA. On the Spike TV main card, Hardy put away Alice Yauger (4-6) via third round TKO with a barrage of hard shots.
Post-fight, Hardy was emotional. She told media, “I think I just fell in love.” Hardy further explained, “I just worked so hard, and now I can say zip did it too. A lot of people said I couldn’t do it or I wouldn’t do it. And I did.”
The 35-year-old Hardy’s emphatic win has fans excited for thrilling potential match-ups in Bellator’s budding flyweight division. Despite her success in her MMA debut, Hardy doesn’t plan on leaving boxing to pursue a career in MMA. She wants to break barriers in both sports. “I’ll never leave boxing. There are girls I still want to fight in boxing. It’s not something I plan on walking away from.”
Hardy plans on making the most of her opportunities. At the moment, she’s not sure whether her next fight will be in boxing or MMA, but she promises she’ll be ready.
