Germaine de Randamie has moved up to number-two in the UFC’s official media generated bantamweight rankings following a dominant unanimous decision win over former title challenger, Raquel Pennington, at last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 139 event.
De Randamie (8-3) made a sensational return to competition following a controversial showing in February 2017 when she won a unanimous decision over Holly Holm to become the inaugural UFC featherweight champion. She was later stripped off the belt after refusing to defend it against Cris Cyborg. The 34-year-old is without a doubt one of the most impressive bantamweights on the entire roster, prior to joining the sport of MMA she was one of the most decorated female kickboxers of all time and retired from the sport with a perfect 37-0 record. Her only loss since signing with the UFC, comes to the champion Amanda Nunes.
‘The Iron Lady’s rise in the rankings means she is placed behind number-one ranked Holly Holm and the champion, Amanda Nunes.
