Brazilian strawweight Geisa Veloso returns to action this Friday to face Maria Oliveira for the event Festival de Lutas da CUFA 4. Veloso will be competing on what will be her second pro MMA bout. She made her debut in February of this year defeating
Kakau Costa in round 2 via a choke. She’ll be looking to make a statement by breaking her opponent, fellow Brazilian Maria Oliveira’s five fight win streak.
Veloso is not phased by the number of fights her opponent has had, she tells us “My opponent comes with a number of more fights than I do, which does not surprise me, I know of her ability, I feel strong and happy, ready for victory“. She continues “I see some holes in her boxing and I see my wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu as superior to hers“.
She currently trains at Team Nova Uniao and reveals she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else “I train at Team Nova Uniao. I started my career there and I do not see myself anywhere else. I’m happy to know that I train with the best, I have great coaches, and awesome support from my training friends, the best thing is knowing that we are a family”. Her grandfather who was a boxer was her main inspiration for getting into the sport “Five years ago I started kickboxing training and today I’m at MMA, my grandfather was a boxing fighter and a great inspiration for me”.
Her fight on Friday will be her second fight this year, she would like to take more fights next year however “I hope I can do 3 to 4 fights next year because this year I only had two“. Her ultimate goal is to become Invicta FC strawweight champion, followed by UFC champion “I want to be champion of Invicta FC and then champion in the UFC. Today I am training to be champion inside the UFC, and in time it will happen”.
Geisa Veloso will face Maria Oliveira tomorrow for Festival de Lutas da CUFA 4.
