Heavyweight monster Gabi Garcia is hoping to fight at every RIZIN Fighting Federation event this year, after failing to pick up an MMA victory in 2017.
Last year, Garcia (4-0, 1 NC) picked up a pair of no contests, one in MMA and the other in Shootboxing. For her most recent scheduled MMA bout on December 29, she failed to make weight by 27-pounds, resulting in the fight being cancelled. The Brazilian later revealed she has been having health problems and that was the reason for a failed weight-cut.
In a recent chat with WMMA Rankings, Garcia provided an update.
“I’m still sick! My blood pressure is high, my body hurts, and I’m sad I didn’t get to fight. All my career has been like this. I need to pass the bad moments so I can come back stronger than ever. I need to be back on all the RIZIN shows this year, I need to give my best for fans“. Garcia said.
The Brazilian is the number-one ranked female heavyweight fighter in the world. She owns notable stoppage victories over fellow top-ten ranked contenders, Destanie Yarbrough, Lei’D Tapa and Anna Maliukova.
