RIZIN FF heavyweight superstar Gabi Garcia will make her Shoot Boxing debut on Friday when she battles Megumi Yabushita in an openweight bout at “Shoot Boxing Girl’s S-Cup 2017”. Shootboxing is a combat sport which allows kicks, punches, knees, elbows, throws, and standing submissions.
Garcia (4-0-0 in MMA) is currently the number one heavyweight fighter in the world when it comes to MMA. Since making her professional debut back in 2015, she’s finished the likes of Lei’D Tapa, Anna Maliukova and Destanie Yarbrough. She was a 10x BJJ World Champion prior to making the move to MMA. At 6’2 and well over 200-pounds, the 31-year-old believes she is the baddest woman on the planet.
Her opponent, Yabushita (19-23-0 IN MMA), is a veteran of combat sports who competes in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. She is currently on a seven-fight losing streak in MMA competition. The 45-year-old will be hoping to make a statement in Friday’s stand-up only fight by taking out the much larger opponent in Garcia.
Meanwhile, Garcia has a very busy month. After she successfully competes in Friday’s Shoot boxing contest, she will then make her return to MMA, the sport she is most known for, when she battles Oksana Gagloeva in an eagerly anticipated heavyweight contest at RIZIN Fighting Federation 6 on 30th July.
