Following loss to Cynthia Calvillo, Poliana Botelho plans return to flyweight

Following her first round submission defeat to Cynthia Calvillo, Poliana Botelho plans to return to 125-pounds.

Prior to signing with the UFC in 2017, the Brazilian striker competed in the flyweight division.

She went 2-0 at strawweight with wins over Pearl Gonzalez and Syuri Kondo before running into Cynthia Calvillo earlier this month at UFC Argentina.

She made the announcement on her social media.

At first, everybody thought it would be impossible for me to make 115, but with my medical and nutritionist team we proved it was possible. I fought three times and always made the weight. We made the decision, even before the fight in Argentina, that we would go back up to flyweight, especially because of my health, because I was putting my health at risk and it was disturbing my training. Today, I can inform, that my next fight will be in the flyweight category and I will be able to fight more often in the year without affecting my health. I’ll come back stronger. Keep in the crowd.

Who would you like to see Botelho face in her UFC 125-pound debut?
