The Ultimate Fighter will return for its twenty-sixth season on August 30. The winner of the long-running reality show will become the first ever UFC women’s flyweight champion. The sixteen cast members for the season were revealed last week.
In the lead-up to August 30, WMMA Rankings will be giving fans a rundown on each of the sixteen cast-members. Today’s featured fighter is Rachael Ostovich.
Rachael Ostovich (3-3) is a Hawaiian who trains out of Jesus Is Lord in Honolulu. She went 1-1 as a pro before signing with Invicta FC in which she’s picked up a 2-2 record. She’s earned victories over Evva Johnson and Ariel Beck, whilst her losses come to Andrea Lee and Christine Ferea.
The 26-year-old is a former cheerleader and gymnast who has also had wrestling experience and was a Judo State Champion. She was the 2012 Miss MMA Hawaii.
Prior to making her pro-debut, Ostovich was a multiple-time amateur MMA world champion, both at flyweight and bantamweight. She earned the perfect 6-0 record, including a victory over UFC strawweight J.J. Aldrich.
Ostovich says on how she got into MMA:
“I began in 2010 with a wrestling, judo and cheerleading / gymnastics background. I grew up in a fighting family and after high school I couldn’t compete anymore, so I finally convinced my dad to let me try my hand at MMA. The passion stuck and ever since I’ve been not just a competitor but a fan of all the trailblazers who opened the door for WMMA.”
Ostovich on her inspirations in life:
“My inspiration in life would have to be my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without him I would be nothing. At birth, doctors gave me a bleak prognosis because I was born with two holes in my heart. Though I was scheduled for open heart surgery at age 2, the Lord chose to heal me instead. By 6 months old, the holes unexplainably closed. The doctors even said it never happens and could only have been a miracle of God. Since then I knew the Lord had a plan for my life“.
Ostovich on her favorite MMA fighter:
“My favorite MMA fighter would have to be female phenom Gina Carano. She paved the way for women’s MMA. She’s a great fighter and is also very humble“.
Ostovich on what she looks for in a man:
“Well first of all, he needs a job and probably would need to enjoy training and watching fights. Most importantly, he needs to be a man of God“.
Ostovich on her turn-ons:
“When a man is funny, athletic and smart. Also if you smell good that’s always a plus“.
Ostovich on her turnoffs:
“Low self-esteem, bad hygiene and no job“.
