Fighter Spotlight: Meet TUF 26 cast member DeAnna Bennet

On August 30th, The Ultimate Fighter will return to television for it’s twenty-sixth season to deliver fight fans a combination of mixed martial arts action and reality television drama. This season’s coaches Eddie Alvarez (28-5) and Justin Gaethje (18-0) will look to guide female flyweight stars toward the inaugural (and long-awaited) UFC flyweight championship.

Prior to TUF 26’s premiere, WMMA Rankings will be analyzing each flyweight hopeful. Scroll down to learn more about more about “The Argentine Assassin” DeAnna Bennet! One of the more well-known names joining this season of TUF is DeAnna Bennet. Bennet has been a staple in Invicta FC since her promotional debut in 2014– two years after making her professional MMA debut for Showdown Fights in 2012 after going 2-0 as an amateur.

Despite only having eleven total pro-MMA fights, Bennet brings a wealth of experience to the table. She’s competed in three different weight classes– 115, 125 and 135– but seems to have found a permanent home in the flyweight division.

“The Argentine Assassin” has faced a who’s who in WMMA– she went on an eight fight win-streak with wins over the likes of Julianna Peña, Colleen Schneider, Jennifer Maia and Katja Kankaanpaa. In 2016, Bennet was handed her first professional loss via TKO at the hands of Livia Renata Souza. Since then, Bennet has lost two consecutive bouts– split-decisions to Roxanne Modafferi and Jodie Esquibel.

Bennet’s journey in mixed martial arts started in high school. She was a member of the water polo team. One of the water polo coaches was also a wrestling coach– he urged Bennet to give wrestling a try and she was “immediately hooked”.

Bennet was born in Fremont, California. She now resides in Orem, Utah, and trains out of The Pit Elevated team.

Who is your pick to go far this season? Who would you like to see DeAnna Bennet matched up against?

  1. Those are some impressive wins that Bennett has accumulated. Was her victory over Pena at 135? I wonder if the weight cut to 115 did her in with her fight against Souza.
