The UFC has confirmed a report in the Brisbane Times that a women’s flyweight fight has been added to UFC Fight Night 121.
Joanne Calderwood (11-3) is set to face “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings (7-6) at 125-pounds in Sydney, Australia in November. JoJo Calderwood is currently riding a two-fight skid. She dropped a controversial unanimous decision to rising star Cynthia Calvillo last month. Prior to that, she was submitted by former title challenger Jessica Andrade.
Australia’s own Bec Rawlings is riding a two-fight skid of her own. She was KO’d by a flying switch kick from Paige VanZant last year, and dropped a decision to Tecia Torres in February.
The two competed alongside one another during TUF 20 as strawweights. They have previously been scheduled to fight at strawweight, but the bout never materialized. Both fighters have been vocal about the struggles making 115 and have actively campaigned for a 125-pound division. With the flyweight season of The Ultimate Fighter debuting at the end of the month, Calderwood and Rawlings find themselves in the midst of an exciting new division.
UFC Fight Night 121 takes place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia on November 19th.
