Bellator featherweight Iony Razafiarison returns to action on May 20th, she has been given permission by the organization to compete at Superior FC 17 against undefeated prospect Helena Kolesnyk. The pair will meet at a catchweight of 140-pounds.
Razafiarison (2-1-0, 1 NC) is coming off the biggest victory of her professional career, after taking out Sinead Kavanagh back in February at Bellator 173. The victory over the highly touted and formerly undefeated prospect put her at number thirteen in the featherweight world rankings. The 32-year-old who resides out of Paris, France and trains out of Quoniam Gym is hoping to display another impressive performance in May, and make a statement by taking out another undefeated contender.
Kolesnyk (4-0-0, 1 NC) has looked phenomenal in her professional mixed martial arts career so far. The 27-year-old who was born in Ukraine and now fighting out of Russia has finished three of her victories inside the first round by way of strikes, as well as a round two submission victory by way of a standing neck crank. It should be noted however that three of her career victories come to women who have not yet had a win, whilst the fourth comes to a woman who is 1-6-0 as a pro. Kolesnyk believes she has what it takes to become the face of the featherweight division, and she will definitely be looking to prove it on May 20th against a top-ranked Bellator star. A victory for Kolesnyk would no doubt send her into the top fifteen, as well as putting herself on Bellator MMA’s radar.
