#DWTNCS results: Antonina Shevchenko earns UFC contract after TKO win

The UFC is now home to two Shevchenko’s– tonight on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, the older sister of number one flyweight contender Valentina Shevchenko, Antonina Shevchenko, earned a UFC contract with a TKO win over Jaimee Nievera.

Antonina improved her MMA record to 6-0 by stopping Nievera in the second round. Nievera put up a valiant effort after accepting the fight on short notice but Shevchenko’s Muay Thai proved to be too much. She unloaded on Nievera with knees from the clinch until referee Herb Dean stepped in to stop the action.

Shevchenko vs Nievera marked the first time a women’s bout has been the featured bout on DWTNCS.

After much deliberation, Dana White, with the help of Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard, announced that men’s lightweight Te Edwards and women’s flyweight Antonina Shevchenko earned UFC contracts.

  1. Nievera showed heart, but she looked far less than enthusiastic about returning to the fight after the Dr. checked her out. Look forward to watching Antonina working her way towards the title.

  2. They’re really banking of the Shevchenko sisters. We know Valentina is a proven killer, and her sister has a high level as well, can’t blame UFC for wanting to feature both of them.
