“ROAD FC 45: Ham vs. Frey” takes place this Saturday from the Grand Hilton Convention Center in Seoul, South Korea. The entire event will be aired live and free on ROAD FC’s official YouTube channel from 3am ET.
One of the most anticipated fights on the card is a women’s heavyweight bout between Destanie Yarbrough and Begimzhan Kasymova. Both women will be competing in ROAD FC’s newly minted “openweight division” which features middleweights and heavyweights (180lbs +).
Yarbrough (1-1) resides in Fresno, California and currently trains at Buhawe Muay Thai/Halo Jiu Jitsu. She stands at 175cm tall and weighs in at around 220lbs. The 27-year-old came to MMA following a strong sporting background, having competed as a semi-professional football player for the Central California War Angels. Her incredible physical condition and her excellent Muay Thai technique made her pro MMA debut a spectacular one: she was victorious with a 33 second TKO. However, she lost out in her follow-up, a first-round keylock submission to Gabi Garcia. Yarbrough has been tirelessly working on her MMA game over the last fifteen months and now looks to show off her improvements and make a statement to the MMA world.
Begimzhan Kasymova (1-0) of Kyrgyzstan currently trains at the NOMAD gym. She is a Master of Sports in sambo, a 3-time national armwrestling champion, and a 2-time national boxing champion. She began boxing as a teenager for fitness, and it soon became a way of life. Begimzhan’s interest in MMA grew, so she began studying and had her first professional match just 3 months ago, winning by TKO in just over a minute.
