Saturday at Deep Jewels 15, Reina Miura dominated UFC veteran Shayna Baszler, eventually picking up the unanimous decision win.
Miura used her superior wrestling skills to her advantage, out-pointing Baszler on the scorecards. She had the UFC veteran locked in an Armbar just before the fight finished.
Miura improves her record to 2-0-0, after submitting Eriko Iwamoto via unanimous decision. She believes she will be the woman to bring worldwide attention to the 155lb lightweight division, much like how Cris Cyborg did with the featherweights and Ronda Rousey with the bantamweights. She is currently the number eight ranked lightweight competitor in the world, no doubt a victory over Baszler should see her ranking go up.
Baszler meanwhile falls to 15-11-0. This was her first ever fight at 155 pounds, and her first in two years.
DEEP JEWELS 15 took place from the Shinjuku Face Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The event was headlined by an atomweight championship fight which saw Mina Kurobe defeat the number two ranked atomweight in the world, Naho Sugiyama, to become the atomweight champion.
