UFC president has revealed what he believes the reason is for Alexa Grasso missing weight by 5.5 pounds at this past Friday’s UFC 246 weigh-ins.
Grasso (11-3-0) was scheduled to fight Claudia Gadelha (17-4-0) in a strawweight contest on the pay-per-view main card of this past Saturday’s ‘UFC 246: McGregor vs. Cowboy’ event. The fight was cancelled after Grasso missed weight by 5.5 pounds.
During the UFC 246 post-fight press conference on Saturday night, Dana White says he feels bad for Alexa Grasso and reveals that he believes she missed weight due to to muscle gain.
“We [usually] get pissed of when people don’t act like professional and make weight. Alexa Grasso is one of the sweetest human beings on this planet and she’s a professional, something must have gone wrong in her camp. If you look at her, she’s gained a lot of muscle over the last year and I’m wondering if that had something to do with her not making weight. I actually feel bad for her, she’s a great kid, I look forward to seeing her at 125.” White said.
Following the news of the fight being cancelled, Grasso released an official statement, apologizing for missing weight and announcing she’d be moving up to the 125-pound flyweight division.
