Cris Cyborg: “It’s been a year since Megan Anderson won the Invicta belt and she hasn’t defended it, fight me in Australia”

Cris Cyborg successfully defended her featherweight title at last night’s UFC 219 event, earning a unanimous decision win over Holly Holm.

Cris Cyborg wants Megan Anderson to legitimize her position as one of the best featherweights in the world.

The Brazilian now has her sights on fighting Invicta FC featherweight champion, Megan Anderson, at the February 10 UFC 221 event in Perth, Australia. Following her big win at UFC 219, Cyborg (19-1, 1 NC) took to her Instagram page to mention the fact that Anderson hasn’t defended her belt since winning it and challenged her to finally legitimize her ranking as one of the best 145-pound fighters in the world.

It’s been a year since Megan Anderson won the Invicta FC belt and she hasn’t defended it yet. If she’s ready to defend her #1 ranking I would love to fight in Australia.” Cyborg wrote on her Instagram page, following the victory over Holm.

Anderson signed with the UFC earlier this year and was originally scheduled to fight the feared Brazilian at the UFC 214 event this past July, however Anderson pulled out of the fight, weeks before it was scheduled to take place, due to “undisclosed reasons”. She owns notable wins over Amanda Bell and Charmaine Tweet with her most recent loss coming by way of a submission to number-one lightweight, Cindy Dandois.

  1. Poor Cyborg wanted to be in the UFC so badly because she was walking around with UFC blinders on and wanted to drink that UFC kool-aid and now that she is happily in the UFC, she has no one to fight because UFC hasn’t even attempted to build their Women’s Featherweight division, it’s actually hilarious.
