Cris Cyborg will fight for UFC gold this July

The pound-for-pound best female fighter in the world, Cris Cyborg, will finally receive a UFC title shot this summer.

Chris Taylor from BJPENN.COM has confirmed with sources close to the UFC that Cris Cyborg will fight for the UFC women’s featherweight title at UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California.

It is currently uncertain if current UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie will be vacating her title or if Cyborg will fight for an interim belt. Former featherweight title challenger, Holly Holm, recently revealed that she has heard that De Randamie will be retiring from the sport.

According to BJPENN.com, current Invicta Featherweight champion Megan Anderson is the front runner to face Cyborg at UFC 214. However, the UFC is still currently exploring some other options.

UFC 214 takes place on July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event will be aired live on pay-per-view.

Fight fans, what do you think? Who do you want to see face Cris Cyborg at UFC 214?

  1. Amanda Nunes would probably give Cyborg her best fight, but she has business to attend to with Shevchenko, and I hear that she’s not interested in fighting Cyborg. Few are that aren’t suicidal. Julia Budd was ranked the #2 contender for 4 years while she was with Cyborg in Strikeforce and Invicta and never took up the challenge, so I guess it pretty much as to go to Megan. GDR sure has shown no interest in such a fight and I can’t blame her.
