Cris Cyborg wants Holly Holm to fight Amanda Nunes, says she’ll take the winner – “Both these girls beat Ronda Rousey”

UFC featherweight champ Cris Cyborg is hoping that Holly Holm will be next to challenge Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title. She then hopes to put her own belt on the line against the winner.

Cyborg believes Holly Holm is deserving of a UFC bantamweight title shot against Amanda Nunes.

This past Saturday night at the UFC 225 event, Holly Holm put a three-round beatdown on Megan Anderson, earning herself the unanimous decision win.  It seems Cyborg (20-1, 1 NC) was impressed and now wants Holm to have a shot at Amanda Nunes’ bantamweight belt.

Both these girls beat Ronda Rousey. I want to know who wins against each other and I can fight the winner of Amanda Nunes VS Holly Holm in a REAL SUPERFIGHT” Cyborg wrote on her social media pages.

Nunes (16-4) won the bantamweight title in the main event of the prestigious UFC 200 event in 2016, submitting Miesha Tate in the very first round to capture the belt. ‘The Lioness’ has gone on to headline three more pay-per-view events in a row, defending her belt against Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko and Raquel Pennington.

Meanwhile, Holm (12-4) has won two of her last three. A knockout win over Bethe Correia, as well as the recent decision win over Anderson. The one loss comes by way of a unanimous decision to Cris Cyborg at last December’s UFC 219 event.

  1. Sounds good to me, but is Cris wanting to stay inactive that long? It’ll probably be several months at least before a Nunes/Holm fight, and even if the victor isn’t injured, several more before Cris can take on the winner.

On an entirely different note, I was surprised to wmmarankings.com rank Yana #4 at 145 when, to my knowledge, she has never won a fight at that weight. Was also surprised to see Megan ranked all the way down at #10.

Also curious as to why they would rank Cat, who is1-3 and on a 3 fight losing streak, over Marion, who is 3-0-1, and that one draw a questionable one that I felt should have gone her way, and over Rocky, who was on a 4 fight win streak before she lost to the champ.

  2. I would support that notion. One of them destroyed the myth of Rousey being unbeatable while the other destroyed Rousey herself

  3. For me, Amanda versus Cris should have nothing to do with anything Holly wants, does, or doesn’t do. Nunes called for the Cyborg fight, the call-out was accepted, it should happen. Her fighting Holm ‘instead’ wouldn’t sit well with me, and let’s not even get started on the rankings… 🙄
