Friday night at the Combate Estrellas 1 event, Amanda Serrano and Corina Herrera fought to a draw. All three judges scored the flyweight bout 28-28.
Serrano (0-0-1) was unsuccessful in picking up a victory in her professional MMA debut. The 29-year-old is a multiple-time boxing world champion who owns an impressive 35-1-1 record in the sport, including 26 knockout victories. She is considered by many to be one of the best pound-for-pound female boxers in the world. The Puerto Rican has won a number of world titles in multiple weight-classes including the WBO lightweight, featherweight, super bantamweight and bantamweight titles, as well as the WBC, IBF super featherweight belts.
Herrera (3-4-1) earns the first draw of her career after losing in her last bout against Jaymee Nievera at the Bellator 183 event this past September. She has lost four of her last five with the one victory being a unanimous decision over Erica Gonzalez in 2016.
Combate Estrellas 1 took place on Friday April 13 from The Shrine in Los Angeles, California, United States. The main card featuring Serrano vs. Herrera was aired live on Univision and Univision Deportes from 12am (midnight) EST, 9pm PST.
