Carla Esparza vs. Livinha Souza booked for UFC Miami in April

A battle of former Invicta FC strawweight champions has been booked for the upcoming UFC on ESPN 3 card in Miami, Florida.

The inaugural Invicta FC and UFC strawweight champ Carla Esparza is set to return to action versus the former Invicta FC strawweight champ Livinha Souza.

Esparza (13-6) will look to return from a tough 2018 two-fight skid following losses to Claudia Gadelha and Tatiana Suarez.

Souza (13-1) is 2-0 in the UFC with victories over Alex Chambers and most recently, Sarah Frota. The Brazilian fighter has only one blemish on her record– a dropped split-decision to Angela Hill at Invicta FC 17.

Who will you be rooting for?

  1. I’ll be rooting for Esparza, as one more loss may send her packing. Hopefully not, as she was the former SW champ, but I think Souza will win.

    1. Esparza is NOWHERE NEAR being sent packing ! Dana kept Curran and some others around forever ! Esparza is not even close ! Pretty sure she’s still in the UFC’s Top 7 in the rankings, even after the loss to Suarez ! The Gadelha fight was really close !

    2. This will be Souza’s toughest ever, maybe tougher than Angela Hill , and she lost to Hill by razor close split decision, but it might have been Hill’s reach giving her problems.

      1. That and I think Hill’s movement kind of puzzled her at first, too! I think it will be interesting to see who takes it to the ground first here. Carla is scrappy on the feet and has some pop in her punches, as does Souza. Should be a great match up– Im pulling for Esparza on this one!
