Brazilian strawweight beauty Liana Pirosin talks MMA return, Saturdays bout, 2017 goals and lots more

This Saturday at Imortal FC 6 top Brazilian strawweight prospect Liana “Li” Pirosin makes her return to MMA competition against Vanessa Guimarães. We last seen Liana (3-1-0) fight back in March of 2015. She talks to us about her return, her opinions on her opponent Vanessa Guimarães, why she begun fighting, weighs in on Rousey’s return, goals for 2017 and lots more.

Pirosin believes her versatility will get her the victory on Saturday.

You’ll be fighting Vanessa Guimarães this Saturday at Imortal FC 6. What are your opinions on Guimarães as an opponent?
Vanessa is an experienced athlete, she is a tough opponent.

What holes do you see in Guimarães’ game?
I believe I can beat her in the details, I rely on my technique and I find myself more versatile than my opponent.

We last seen you fight back in March of 2015 when you received your first career loss to UFC strawweight Viviane Pereira via unanimous decision. What was the biggest lesson you learnt from that fight?
The defeat to Sucuri made me more mature, and made me realize that there were many things to improve, in that time I managed to correct my mistakes, especially in the part of wrestling.

What team do you currently train with?
I am training in the Rasthai Temple team, with coach Renato Rasta, my coach is very intelligent, gives me a lot of confidence, and he gives a lot of emphasis on small details that can make all the difference in high level fights.

How did you first get into fighting?
I started at age 16, with the goal of losing weight and practising physical activity, I began to excel in training and to want to compete.

Pirosin hopes to fight for the UFC or Bellator after a win on Saturday.

This fight will be at 115lbs (Strawweightt), is this the weight class you feel most comfortable at?
Yes, I think I’m one of the highest in this category, I think that’s an advantage for my game.

Women’s MMA pioneer Ronda Rousey makes her return December 30th when she takes on Amanda Nunes. Who do you think will win the fight?
I think Rousey will return with everything, I believe she will finish Nunes in the first round.

Do you have any aspirations to someday fight for UFC?
Yes, I think the UFC is the dream of many fighters, but there are other cool events like Bellator.

With a win over Guimarães, what do you hope is next for you as 2017 approaches?
I believe that this victory can bring me much recognition, and maybe a fight outside of Brazil.

Thanks for joining us today Liana, anything you’d like to add?
I would like to thank the opportunity to do this interview, thank God that allows me to do what I love most, my coach Renato Rasta, my training partners, my whole family, my husband Gustavo Neves and my sponsors: Carroagem Automoveis, MKS , DHT, CJ Supplements, mouthex, Viwix Fitness and Welness, Steel Trailers and Trailers, The Pharmacutical, Butcher Le Magu, Uzen Sunglasses, Stemps.
