Multiple-time boxing champ Ava Knight suffered the first loss of her young MMA career at Saturday night’s Bellator 238 event, losing to Emilee King by way of a first-round submission.
Knight is now 1-1 in professional MMA, following a successful professional debut at Bellator 228 in September 2019 when she picked up the third-round knockout win over Shannon Goughary.
The 31-year-old, a multiple-time boxing world champion, released a lengthy statement following the fight. She isn’t letting this setback take her focus away from MMA, in fact she promises she is here for the ‘long haul’ and plans to get in more ‘mat time’ and really work on her craft.
“The hates going to pour in. I have Not one excuse, I came to fight! I will NEVER quit. I didn’t get my ass beat… but I lost. I will get back to the gym and just keep working. Hours of mat time. I will practice. I will learn. It’s a fight game, I’m a fighter and I’m here for the long haul. Thank you to all those who support me and show me all the love. I’m stronger now than ever and watch me grow. P.S. A girl who will always chase her dream.” Knight said.
