Dynasty Combat Sports is set to make history when it introduces a world title belt for the 155-pound lightweight division at tonight’s September Fight Fest event.
Number-one ranked lightweight, Sarah Patterson, and number-three ranked Jozette Cotton are slated to fight for the inaugural women’s lightweight title tonight (Friday Sep. 1) in the co-main event of DCS 37.
One woman who who will keeping a very close eye on tonight’s fight is number-two ranked lightweight fighter in the world, Bobbi-Jo Dalziel (3-0). The undefeated contender is one of the most highly touted prospects in the world and owns a unanimous decision win over tonight’s title challenger, Jozette Cotton.
Earlier today in an interview with WMMA Rankings, the 31-year-old confirmed she plans to challenge the winner for the belt and is very confident she will defeat whoever it is that emerges victorious tonight.
“It’s okay that they are fighting before I am for the belt because I know I will win when I fight for it. So I wish both ladies the best of luck for tonight but I will get the next shot at the winner” the Canadian told WMMA Rankings.
Dalziel made her professional debut in June 2014, knocking out Tamikka Brents in the third round following some heavy knees in the clinch. She followed up in March 2016, knocking out Invicta FC veteran Andria Wawro in just 30 seconds via a head kick. Her most recent showing was in October 2016, when she defeated Cotton via unanimous decision.
