This Saturday an exciting women’s atomweight fight will go down when Bi Nguyen makes her highly anticipated return to the cage to battle Lindsey VanZandt at the ‘King of the Cage: Locked In’ event.
Bi Nguyen (3-1-0) , also known as the “Killer Bee”, has fast become a fan-favorite of the 105-pound division thanks to her impressive performances since making her pro debut back in July 2016. She trains out of Jackson-Wink MMA along with UFC superstars such as Jon Jones, Holly Holm, Michelle Waterson and countless others.
The 27-year-old last competed at the ‘King of the Cage: Groundbreaking’ event on May 6, losing out to Andy Nguyen via unanimous decision. The loss marked the first in Bi’s professional career. The fight was a controversial one however, as many fans and fellow fighters feel as though the referee, Cecil Peoples, should not have kept standing the fighters up on every occasion that Bi landed a dominant position on the ground. The Jackson-Wink standout has since stated that she will refuse to allow Peoples to referee one of her fights again. Nguyen will no doubt be back with a vengeance on Saturday.
VanZandt (2-0) will be making her King of the Cage debut. The 24-year-old has looked extremely impressive since making her professional debut in July of this year, remaining undefeated with knockout victories over Katie Saull and Rachel Sazoff.
‘King of the Cage: Locked In’ takes place this Saturday 28 October from the SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The fight between Nguyen and VanZandt will be aired live on King of the Cage’s Facebook page.
