Bethe Correia returns, slated to face Irene Aldana at #UFC227

An exciting bantamweight bout is in the works for UFC 227 on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Per MMA Brasil via Twitter (@mmabrasil), Bethe Correia is slated to return to action versus Mexican prospect Irene Aldana.

Correia has been out of action since June 2017, having undergone surgery following her main event knockout loss to Holly Holm. Prior to that, the controversial Brazilian fought to a draw with Marion Reneau in March and defeated Jessica Eye in 2016. The former title challenger has been a staple in the top fifteen.

Image resultAfter dropping a tough decision loss to Leslie Smith and a close split-decision loss to Katlyn Chookagian in her first two UFC appearances, Aldana picked up her first promotional win in January with a dominant performance over Talita Bernardo. Irene was a former Invicta title challenger and standout before signing with the UFC in 2016.

Who will you be rooting for?

  1. I’m almost tempted to root for Bethe – but not quite. After all, if she loses, she will probably be dropped by the UFC and who will we have to root against?

Speaking of Portuguese fighters, did you see that Viviane “Sucuri” Pereira is replacing Nadia Kassem to face Yan Xiaonan at UFC Singapore on June 23rd? None of the articles I saw were in English (they were probably all in Portuguese), so I know no more than that.

  2. Ahh yeah, the Pitbull bravado is back. Good luck Bethe Correia, I would love to see her string some wins together and get back in that title picture. People love to hate Bethe Correia, but they tune in to watch Bethe Correia. I’ll definitely be rooting for Bethe.
