Former bantamweight title challenger Bethe “Pitbull” Correia has her sights set on Contender Series alum Tracy Cortez.
“I did a poll on social media asking fans who they wanted to see me fight next, and I got a lot of messages of people saying a fight between Tracy Cortez and I would be great,” Correia told MMA Fighting.
“Fighting in London would be magnificent. I’ve been getting tons of messages from English fans and people around Europe saying they would love to see me fight there, and I would love to terrorize England [laughs],” she added.
“I’ve always dreamed about fighting Europe, so I hope I can fight on this card. I would be thrilled and I guarantee fans would be too.”
Correia (11-4-1) snapped a two-fight losing skid in September at UFC Mexico City when she defeated TUF 26 finalist Sijara Eubanks via unanimous decision. The Brazilian contender returned to action in May after a lengthy layoff due to an eye injury.
Cortez (7-1) punched her ticket to the UFC on Dana White’s Tuesday Contender Series, defeating Mariya Agapova via unanimous decision. She made her official debut at UFC São Paulo on short notice in November, defeating Vanessa Melo by decision.
Cortez earned her Contender Series contract as a flyweight but fought in her promotional debut as a bantamweight. She has not closed the door at a return to 125 pounds.
