Tonight, at Bellator 195 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., flyweights are set to battle as former title challenger Emily Ducote (6-3) locks horns the up and coming Kristina “Warhorse” Williams (1-0).
Williams turned heads in her Bellator debut when she upset Heather Hardy via second round doctor stoppage. The relatively unknown Williams showed a diverse striking arsenal and a killer instinct that captured fans attention.
Ducote has long been a promotional standout. She is 4-2 under the Bellator banner with both of her losses coming to the reigning champion, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. Ducote’s well-rounded skill set is highlighted by her grappling prowess that has seen her capture three submission wins.
So, who’s going to get their hand raised Friday night? Members of the WMMA Rankings panel weigh in below!
Terence: Williams is undefeated n her amateur and pro career, and just had a marquee win over Heather “The Heat” Hardy in October. However, Ducote is a veteran fighter with a great ground game. I think she taps Williams out.
PICK – EMILY DUCOTE
Bryce: Williams shocked the world when she was able to defeat the boxing legend Heather Hardy in her Bellator debut. She looks to continue her underdog momentum as she takes on Bellator staple Emily Ducote. Ducote is 4-2 in Bellator with her only two losses being against the current champon Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. I see Ducote using her ground game to show Williams the difference between going up against a boxer in the cage and going up against a well-rounded MMA fighter.
PICK – EMILY DUCOTE via second-round submssion
Nick: Williams was super impressive in her debut and she for sure as a bright future ahead of her. She’s agressive and I think she’s a sleeper in this fight– this will be a war. With that being said, I’m going to lean on the side of experience and take Ducote for the win though.
PICK – EMILY DUCOTE
