Bellator president Scott Coker reveals Cris Cyborg will most likely fight Arlene Blencowe next

Bellator MMA president Scott Coker has revealed that Arlene Blencowe will most likely receive the first crack at newly-crowned featherweight champ, Cris Cyborg.

Cris Cyborg captured the Bellator MMA featherweight title from Julia Budd on Saturday night.

Cyborg put on a sensational performance in the Bellator 238 main event on Saturday night, knocking out Julia Budd in the fourth-round to capture the featherweight title. The victory means Cyborg has now held the 145-pound belts in four major organizations, having previously won the titles with the UFC, Strikeforce and Invicta FC.

At the Bellator 238 post-event media scrum, Bellator MMA president Scott Coker revealed to reporters that Arlene Blencowe is number-one on his list to get the first shot at newly-crowned champ, Cyborg.

Arlene Blencowe, I didn’t want to say it, but she’s number-one on that list. I think she’s got a record of 13-7, has lots of experience. If she wants to do it, we’ll get it on.” said Coker.

Blencowe (13-7-0) is on an impressive three-fight win streak, which includes two knockout victories. In her most recent showing, the Australian picked up the unanimous decision win over Leslie Smith.

  1. Cris Cyborg vs Arlene Blencowe, a fresh matchup for Bellator and Julia Budd vs Sinead Kavanagh, another fresh matchup for Bellator and it’s a way to keep the women featherweights active in 2020.

    1. I wouldnt mind it. Im not necessarily corssing my fingers or anything for it– I just want the featherweights and the Bellator women’s divisions in general to have an active and consistent 2020.

  2. I’m not a fan of Scott Coker. But I would like to see the Bellator Women Featherweight fighters fight more than once a year. So seeing them being more active would be nice and it would help the fighters to be able to make more money for themselves to be able to support themselves and their families. So seeing Talita Nogueira, Judith Ruis, Olga Rubin, Sinead Kavanagh, Leslie Smith, Cat Zingano, Leah McCourt, Iony Razafiarison, Amanda Bell and possibly Cindy Dandois and Jessica Horgan and Amber Liebrock and Janet Harding all being active in fights and making money would be enjoyable. But don’t have the losers sitting for a whole year after one fight. That I find to be ridiculous and inexcusable.
