Bellator 202 results: Julia Budd dominates Talita Nogueira, knocks her out in the third-round to retain featherweight title

Friday night in the Bellator 202 main event, Julia Budd defeated Talita Nogueira via third-round TKO to retain her featherweight title.

Budd is considered one of the best featherweight fighters in the world.

Budd improves her record to 12-2-0. The 35-year-old put on a dominant performance – successfully using a combination of her wrestling, clinch work and powerful striking to wear Nogueira down. ‘The Jewel’ is now on an impressive ten-fight win streak. She captured the Bellator featherweight title at the Bellator 174 event in March 2013, knocking out Marloes Coenen in the fourth-round, she went on to defend it last December against Arlene Blencowe.

Nogueira suffers the first loss of her professional MMA career, dropping to 7-1-0. The Brazilian is a black belt in BJJ and is a multiple-time world champion in the respective sport.

  1. the end was good, budd thigh kicking talita, then a fist to jaw.
otherwise it was a dull fight, after 2mins i watched on 1.25x speed.

    1. Yeah, the first round was torture and I was fearing a repeat of Julia’s fight with Arlene. However, Julia seemed to pick up speed, and more importantly confidence, in the second round and fought a perfect fight for her. Alas, I’m not a huge fan of the clinch, even though it can be effective, and much preferred the Prelim fight with Veta and Emily.
