Bellator 182 gets Sinead Kavanagh vs Arlene Blencowe

Bellator 182 has added an exciting featherweight clash between Sinead “KO” Kavanagh (4-1) and Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe (9-6). Kavanagh was handed her first professional loss by Iony Razafiarison in February. She will be looking to bounce back and showcase improvements.

Blencowe last fought in Bellator in 2016, losing a majority decision to Julia Budd. Since that loss, Blencowe fought two times in 2017– once for Sledgehammer Promotions, and once for Australia Fighting Championship. Blencowe won both of her fights outside of Bellator by KO/TKO. She has now officially resigned with Bellator and will look to continue her knockout streak.

Earlier this year, Julia Budd was crowned the inaugural Bellator featherweight champion by defeating Marloes Coenen via fourth round TKO. Both Kavanagh and Blencowe will be looking to make a statement in the featherweight division.

Bellator 182 takes place in Verona, New York on August 25.

  1. This doesn’t seem like a good matchup for the young Sinead Kavanaugh. Arlene Blencowe has some power in her punches and has shown vast improvement in her MMA skill set since crossing over from boxing. So much so that I felt she beat Julia Budd despite those very questionable judges scorecards. Bellator is doing the Women’s Featherweight division a great service, building it slowly but surely. But still building.

    1. I dont know a ton about Arlene, but I am definitley going to go back and watch that fight with Budd before this match!

      1. Check out the brutal knockout of Janay Harding courtesy of Arlene Blencowe sometime. When watching the Julia Budd vs Arlene Blencowe fight there is one round that Julia Budd does absolutely nothing and yet the scorecards reflected the judges gave her that round. And in the 3rd round of that fight Julia Budd got her usual takedown and did nothing with it and then got reversed and Arlene Blencowe did much more on her feet than Julia Budd, who just doesn’t let go of her hands at all, and the judges awarded that round to Julia Budd. These judges are quickly turning MMA into the shady practices of boxing with these scorecards.
