Tonight on the Bellator 167 main card a pair of flyweights have the chance to shine when Emily Ducote takes on undefeated Hawaiian beauty Ilima-Lei MacFarlane.
Oklahoma’s Emily ‘Gordinha’ Ducote (4-1-0) is currently on a four fight win streak after dropping her pro debut to Emily Whitmore via decision back in September 2015. ‘Gordina’ has remained very active this year, fighting a total of four times, tonight will be her fifth. She defeated Bruna Vargas with a round 2 choke at Bellator 159 back in July. In September she returned at Bellator 161 and defeated Kenya Miranda via round 2 armlock.
Undefeated Hawaiian Ilima-Lei MacFarlane (4-0-0) has also
had a very successful year. In January of this year she defeated Amber Tackett via round 1 armlock at Bellator 148, in June she defeated Rebecca Ruth with a round 2 choke. MacFarlane spoke to Sherdog earlier in the week and revealed she believes Ducote is her toughest opponent to date “She’s definitely going to be my toughest opponent to date because our styles are real similar, she’s well-rounded, she’s a wrestler, she has good boxing and she’s in shape. She’s durable and she’s friggin’ tough. This matchup will be my toughest.”
Both ladies will be hoping to make a statement tonight and put themselves in position for a possible flyweight title shot in 2017. Bellator do not currently have a flyweight champion, however there has been talk of adding one for some time now.
Bellator 167 takes place tonight, December 3, 2016 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The event will air live in prime time on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET.
