WGP super-middleweight kickboxing world champion, Barbara Nepomuceno, is looking to make her MMA debut in February and has her sights set on competing in ROAD FC’s openweight division.
Augusto Nasser, Nepomuceno’s head coach, gave an update on his fighter during a recent chat with WMMA Rankings.
“We have wanted to fight with Gabi Garcia but nobody gives us the chance. Instead, if somebody gives us the opportunity, Barbara could fight the other heavyweights to prove her worth. We are looking at ROAD FC’s openweight division. Barbara is 75% recovered after her recent surgery, she is looking to make her MMA debut in February”
Nepomuceno (0-0) is a 185-pound kickboxing world champion who announced plans to transition to MMA earlier this year. The 27-year-old trains at Gaia MMA with highly acclaimed head coach, Augusto Nasser. In 2015 she came second in the Kickboxing World Championships, with the 6″5ft heavyweight competitor, Katya Kavaleva, taking first place. The Brazilian has made it known for quite sometime that she would like to take on Gabi Garcia.
