Ayaka Hamasaki: “I now have another fighter I want a rematch with and I now have new goals”

Invicta FC atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki made a return to the 115-pound strawweight division this past Saturday at Invicta FC 22. Her goal was to make a statement to the UFC in the hopes of eventually competing on their roster. Unfortunately the move to strawweight ended in disaster for the 34-year-old as she was knocked out by Livia Souza in just 1:41 of the very first round.

Several days after the devastating loss, Hamasaki (14-2-0) has broken her silence via a public post on her Facebook page. She reveals she now has another fighter who she would like to rematch and has set herself new goals.

Thank you very much!

I’ve returned to Japan safely today.

Thanks for all the supports from Japan.

I am blessed that I was able to fight on that stage with your supports.

It was my second loss at straw weight.
I now have another fighter I want a rematch with and I now have new goals.

The fight resulted in a loss but I want to get healed and work to get back where I want to be.

Thanks for all the messages!
They really gave me the drive!

Thank you #InvictaFC & Livia

  1. Ayaki needsto give Jinh Yu a rematch. That was a very competitive fight until it was stopped by the ref due to a cut over the eye.
