Atomweight champion Andy Nguyen says Ronda Rousey has been gone “way too long”, not impressed with long lay off

Top atomweight fighter Andy “The CrAsian” Nguyen returns to action on December 31st to face Miyu Yamamoto at the Rizin FF year-end event. Just one day before Nguyen’s fight, Ronda Rousey makes her

highly anticipated return to challenge Amanda Nunes for the UFC bantamweight championship at UFC 207.

Rousey was brutally knocked out by Holly Holm back in October of 2015 receiving the first loss of her career, she has not competed since. Nguyen weighs in on Rousey’s lay off, she believes Rousey has her work cut out for her against Amanda Nunes, she also says losing isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however if you take a whole year off, then it is. “Ronda Rousey had never lost in her MMA career before October 2015. Losing is not bad, it is if you’re not used to it and take a whole year off. When I lose a fight, I want another fight right away. That’s the difference with us. That break was way too long and Nunes is good“. She added “Don’t get me wrong, Ronda Rousey has been the most dominant female fighter in the world. I hope she does well, I hope she doesn’t have ring rust“.

The CrAsian herself received a loss to Bi Nguyen back in July of this year. She bounced back in October taking out Cassie Robb with a vicious TKO victory. She’s hoping a victory over Yamamoto on the 31st will allow her to fight for Rizin FF again. She is currently the 105lbs atomweight champion for King of the Cage.

We’ll be publishing an interview with Nguyen during the week of her fight. She reveals how she got into MMA, training at Karate Mafia, opinions on her opponent and lots more.
