Undefeated Aspen Ladd returns to the cage on the early preliminary portion of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 128 event when she takes on Leslie Smith.
Ahead of Saturday’s fight, Ladd (6-0) appeared on MMAJunkie radio and revealed that she has recently been contacted by her upcoming opponent. Smith sent Ladd a direct message on Twitter, urging her to sign an authorization card that would go toward the 150 or so she needs to move forward with Project Spearhead, an effort to unionize fighters.
23-year-old Ladd says she isn’t interested in signing up for Smith’s project as of right now and admits she doesn’t like to be involved with her opponents before the fight.
“It’s just a little bit strange right now,” Ladd told MMAjunkie Radio. “So anything to do with the opponent, I don’t really pay attention to before the fight, no matter what it is.”
“I’m so new to the sport, I haven’t really delved too far into it just yet,” Ladd said. “We’ll see as the years go on and how my views change and progress, but right now, I’m content with what I’m doing.”
UFC Fight Night 128 takes place on April 21 from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States. The early preliminary card featuring Smith vs. Ladd will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass from 6:30pm ET.
