This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 139 event features an exciting strawweight bout on the preliminary card when Ashley Yoder takes on Amanda Cooper.
Yoder (5-4) looks to pick up her first promotional victory after suffering a three-fight losing skid since signing with the organization in 2016. Despite these losses, Yoder has looked tough in defeat and in her latest showing, took Mackenzie Dern to her limits, losing narrowly by way of a questionable split decision. The 31-year-old, also known as “The Spider Monkey”, has previously fought for Invicta FC and in 2016 picked up a notable second-round submission win over Amber Brown. Yoder competed on The Ultimate Fighter 23 in 2016, coached by Joanna Jedrzjedczyk, and picking up a win over Jodie Esquibel before losing to Kate Jackson in the quarter-finals.
Cooper (3-4) is 2-3 since signing with the UFC, winning bouts against Anna Elmose and Angela Magana but finding herself victim of first-round submission finishes when up against Tatiana Suarez, Mackenzie Dern and Cynthia Calvillo. The 27-year-old appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 26 in 2016, the same season as Yoder, and was coached by Claudia Gadelha, picking up wins over Mellony Geugjes, Jamie Moyle and Lanchana Green, before losing to Tatiana Suarez in the finale.
UFC Fight Night 139 takes place this Saturday November 10 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, United States. The preliminary card featuring Yoder vs. Cooper will be aired live on Fox Sports 1 from 8pm EST.
