Arlene Blencowe vs Amber Leibrock set for #Bellator206

A featherweight fight has been added to Bellator 206 in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 29th.

First reported by Geelong Advertiser and later confirmed by Bellator officials to MMA Fighting, former title challenger Arlene Blencowe will return to the cage to take on Amber Leibrock.

Australia’s Blencowe is 3-3 in Bellator. She was unable to dethrone Julia Budd in December— losing a close split-decision to the reigning champ.

Leibrock will look to follow up what was a successful promotional debut versus Janaya Harding in May. She has previously competed in Invicta.

Who will you be rooting for?

  1. Probably for Arlene, as I felt she was cheated in her last two decisions against Budd. It should be an interesting fight, though, in that it could help put the FW divisions of Invicta and Bellator in better perspective.

BTW, Nick, your rankings still have not been updated.

  2. Arlene Blencowe is going to fight every Featherweight on Bellator’s roster. How about Bellator get off their genius butts and add some new blood to their Women’s Featherweight division? Bellator has been moving at a pathetic snell’s pace when it comes to signing Women Featherweights. I guess they aren’t model enough for the Bellator decision makers taste.

    1. Well, they’re doing a lot better than the UFC for featherweights. TUF starts tonight, and it’s mostly women that fight at 135 and 125. They ignored the top featherweights in the independent promotions for the most part because they were older.

  3. Both the UFC and Bellator aren’t doing enough for the Women’s Featherweight division. Bellator just signed Hatice Ozyurt at 2-6 on a 6 fight losing streak and her 2 wins are against the same opponent. But as long as she looks hot, I guess it’s all good in Bellator’s decision makers minds. What a joke. I don’t blame Hatice Ozyurt for accepting the contract because Bellator offered it. But at 2-6, she better learn how to be a much better MMA fighter before she gets seriously hurt.

  4. 2-6? That’s crazy! Meanwhile, top featherweights like Pamela Kay Sorenson and Ediane Gomes can’t even find a fight! Anywhere. UFC passed over them and Jozette Cotton for TUF!

  5. Hopefully, the Professional Fighters League will sign as many of those ladies as they can for their Regular season and Tournament starting in January of 2019 for Women’s Featherweights or Women’s Lightweight and one other Women’s division. For me, it would be nice to see those women fighting regularly, getting nicely paid, and being able to chase that $1 million dollars prize while getting exposure for themselves and being able to pick up sponsors along the way.
