Tonight’s Bellator 206 preliminary card features an exciting featherweight contest when top-ten ranked Arlene Blencowe returns to take on Amber Leibrock.
Blencowe (10-7), currently ranked number-six in the WMMA World Rankings, returns to competition following an unsuccessful attempt at capturing the featherweight title from Julia Budd this past December, losing a close split decision. The 35-year-old, also known as ‘Angerfirst’, has long been considered one of Bellator’s top 145-pound talents and has won three of her last four, including two first-round knockouts.
Leibrock (3-1) is an Invicta FC veteran who fought for the organization in her first three professional fights before coming over to Bellator MMA earlier this year. The 30-year-old was successful in her promotional debut, picking up the dominant decision win over Janay Harding. She owns notable first-round knockout wins over Ronda Rousey’s teammate, Marina Shafir, and Invicta FC’s Amy Coleman.
The fight is certainly a very pivotal one for the division. Blencowe will be looking to get back on track and make a statement in an attempt to show the world why she deserves another shot at the belt. Meanwhile, a victory Leibrock would see her rise significantly in the rankings and put her in position for a title shot next year.
Bellator 206 takes place tonight from the SAP Center in San Jose, California, United States. The preliminary card featuring Blencowe vs. Leibrock will be aired live on BELLATOR LIVE from 7pm EST.
