Antonina Shevchenko vs. Silvana Gomez Juarez targeted for June episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series

A women’s flyweight fight between Antonina Shevchenko and Silvana Gomez Juarez is being targeted for a June episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, the exact date is not yet known. The news was first reported by MMA Today.

Could Antonina Shevchenko be set to follow in her sister’s footsteps?

Shevchenko (3-0) is the older sister of popular UFC contender, Valentina Shevchenko. Also known as “The Panther”, Shevchenko has a wealth of experience in Muay-Thai and is a multiple time world champion in the sport. Since making the full time transition to MMA she has enjoyed dominant performances, picking up victories over Valerie Domergue, Anissa Haddaoui and Hyun Sung Kim.

Juarez (6-2), also known as “La Malvada”, is from Argentina and fights out of the Rogo Team. She has won six of her last eight, with the losses coming to KSW flyweight champ Ariane Lipski and UFC strawweight Poliana Botelho.

The fight between Shevchenko and Juarez is no doubt an exciting one for fans of WMMA with the winner potentially earning themself a contract with the UFC.

Fight fans, are you excited for the June flyweight clash between Shevchenko and Juarez? Who do you think will win? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. It appears that they want to bring Antonina up slowly, otherwise they would be have her facing Airiane Lipski, who just beat Silvana. Also curious as to why 5’8″Antonina is fighting at 125. She’s pretty lean for 135 and used to fight at 62.5 kg (almost 145).

  2. I really want to see Antonina in the UFC. Right weight class might require some trial and error. At some point a sibling rivalry showdown with Valentina would be awesome,
